The third part of the file name is the Document Type.

This answers the question: WHICH?

Here, you choose what type of document you are creating. Use our standard document type abbreviations, where applicable, to identify the document.

Note: Document Type is NOT pdf., doc., .xls, or other file formats. This is automatically added as metadata. Document Type is the structured form you have chosen for your document.

Examples:

  • Summary, Procedure, Instructions, Form
  • LOG instead of Letter of Guarantee
  • Ltr instead of Letter
  • Agmt instead of Agreement. This applies to any type of Agreement or Contract. (e.g.RID JonesL Sales Agmt 2016-11-03)
  • Stmt instead of Statement
