The second part of the file name is the Subject.


This answers the question: WHAT?



Here, you describe the contents of your document. Let people know what's inside the document. This helps anyone else who may need the document decide if they want to open it or not.



Remember to use terms or keywords that other stakeholders are likely to use when searching.



Examples:

  • TTC RothB Rent Relief Ltr 2012-04-28 
  • SAN Fire Drill Memo 2015-10-31
  • 3CP SmithR Rent Default Ltr 2016-12-08


Note that sometimes the “subject” and the “document type” are the same. Example:

  • CGLC Income Stmt 2016-03-31
